A North Carolina native, Doug acquired his love for the mountains through frequent family camping trips to the area. His first choice and only true consideration for college was Appalachian State University in Boone, NC where he graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing. Always the entrepreneur, Doug founded a highly successful business in international trade and quickly learned the key to success is uncompromising customer service.
In 1993, when Doug bought a second home in the Highlands area and began investing in local real estate properties, another business was born. In addition to raw land investments, he also began restoring and re-styling homes as well as building new homes for resale, developing a high level of expertise along the way. In 2000, the business became official with a Broker's License (both in NC and GA) and full time residency in Highlands. Doug joined Harry Norman Realtors (Highlands Office) and quickly became a top producer. He moved to Signature Properties in 2004. After three years of continued success, Doug became owner and Principal Broker of BlackRock Realty Group, LLC.
Doug has earned two of the most prestigious designations in the industry: the GRI (Graduate Realtor Institute) in 2005 and the CRS (Certified Residential Specialist) in 2006. He brings to his business a high level of experience in real estate investing (with emphasis on tax considerations), as well as experience in residential construction and development. In the end, he knows uncompromising customer service is still the key to success.
